Bhubaneswar Hotelier Attacked For Not Paying Puja Chanda

Bhubaneswar: A city-based hotelier has been attacked by a group of around 15 miscreants after he did not pay the demanded amount of 'chanda' for puja celebration. While two of the attackers have been arrested, remaining accused along with the mastermind are still to be nabbed.

The victim Chintamani Nayak, owner of City Residency at Ashok Nagar in Bhubaneswar, has reported that the prime accused Gopan Martha and some of his associates had on September 4 demanded him to pay an amount of Rs 10,000 as puja chanda.

As Nayak paid only Rs 1200, Martha along with some of his aides attacked the former on Friday evening. Nayak has sustained injuries on his head and his left eye has also swollen up. A complaint in this regard has been registered at Capital Police Station and Nayak has urged the police to take stringent action against the accused.
