Bhubaneswar: No sooner had he quit his parent party BJD, Bhadrak MP Arjun Sethi today switched over to BJP at the saffron party’s state headquarters here. He has tendered resignation from the primary membership of BJD, Bhadrak District BJD president post and also from his MP post protesting against the denial of BJD ticket to his son.

Arjun Sethi joined BJP in presence of Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and senior BJP leader Biswa Bhusan Harichandan.

Notably Sethi was inducted into politics by late legendary Biju Patnaik 40 years back. He was elected MLA in 1990. He had been two-time MLA of Biju Babu’s Janata Dal and till his resignation as a six-time MP of the party.

In his resignation letter addressed to BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik, Sethi has mentioned, “In the last few months I met you time to time and was also given assurances to get a party ticket for my son to contest from Bhadrak Lok Sabha due to my old age but unfortunately his name was deleted from the final candidate list.”

Besides Sethi, Jajpur's former BJD MP Mohan Jena also defected to BJP during the same BJP joining ceremony. Jena had also resigned from BJD yesterday after being denied ticket this time also. He had been denied ticket in 2014 Lok Sabha election.
