Being Cautious During Lockdown Can Cause Containment Of COVID-19, Know How

23 March 2020

Bhubaneswar: Numerous places in Odisha are on their day one of lockdown for containment of COVID-19, and as previously announced by the State Government essential commodities will be available and so will the outlets stay open. While lockdown implementation will put brakes on community spread, but our carelessness can still aid it.

We all can follow some basic rules and not just keep ourselves safe but also people around us. Here are the rules:

  • Head out of your house only if necessary.
  • Take necessary precautions when you are outside and maintain a minimum of six feet distance from everyone else.
  • Wash hands properly with a soap/handwash upon returning.
  • If possible, wash or sanitize item brought as they could be a possible fomite. If it is not a perishable good then you can leave it out in open for four or more days by which time the virus would have expired upon not finding a human carrier.
  • Maintain social distancing as much as possible.
  • Do not delay if symptoms show and seek medical help.

The Indian Centre for Medical Research (ICMR) has maintained that the virus is still in phase 2 of transmission, which means there is no evidence of local transmission yet. However, precautions taken during the lockdown period will make sure it stays in phase 2.
