BDO Kidnapped By Miscreants In Broad Daylight In Odisha's Bolangir

29 March 2019

Bolangir: A Block Development Officer has been kidnapped by unidentified miscreants from his office in broad daylight on Friday.

The incident occurred at around 3:30 pm when the BDO Saroj Kumar Mishra was busy discharging his duty at Puintala Block Office, barely 2 kilometres away from the Town police station.

According to reports, 8 to 10 persons barged into the Block office and threatened Mishra to accompany them. Since the lunch break had just ended there were hardly any staffers at the office at that time.

Sources said, the miscreants forced Mishra into a SUV (Scorpio) and fled from the scene. Soon as the sensational news spread, police sprung into action and launched an operation to trace Mishra.

While the police is tight-lipped about the intention of the criminals, reliable sources said, the act was a fallout of a tender and contract dispute.

The vehicle was last traced on Binika - Sonepur route to which a team of cops was dispatched, added sources. Mishra belongs to Bargarh district and was posted in Puintala in August 2018.
