Bhubaneswar: A delegation of Mayurbhanj district’s Baripada-based Shree Hari Baldev Jew Temple ‘sebayats’ (servitors) today met Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik with their grievances as well as various problems of the age-old shrine.

The Chief Minister in his response told the delegation that steps would be taken for the solution of their problems, stated a press note released by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

The Chief Minister also informed the delegation that he would very soon visit Baripada for the purpose.

Law Minister Pratap Jena and Revenue Minister Sudam Marnadi were also present during the meeting.

Notably, the servitors of Shree Hari Baldev Jew Temple had launched a ‘padayatra’ (walkathon) on June 19 from Baripada to meet the Chief Minister here with their eight-point charter of demands. They want the development of the age-old shrine that is famous as second Shrikhetra (Puri) of Odisha.

Besides, the annual Rath Yatra, i.e. pulling of the chariots, is held next day of Puri Rath Yatra. For the last few years, it has also made a mark for its unique precedence of Devi Subhadra’s chariot being pulled exclusively by women.
