Balasore: As part of Kartika Purnima celebrations, a youth group of Soro set sail a 140-ft boita or boat for the commemoration of the maritime glory of the people of Odisha.
The colossal eco-friendly boat was made with thermocol, bamboo, paper and cloth and other decorative material. Keeping alive the 18-year-old tradition, the boat was made by members of Madan Mohan Jubak Sangha of Manitri village to perform the ritual of ‘Raas Purnima’.
Hundreds of people, even from nearby villages thronged to Manitri village to have a glimpse at the magnificent boita and take part in the Kartika Purnima celebrations.
