Puri: Though there was a slight delay in installation of the statues of Jaya and Vijay at the ‘Singhadwar’ of Jagannath temple in Puri, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) completed the repair work hours before commencement of Snana Purnima (ritualistic bath) today.

The idol of Jaya was damaged during the extremely severe cyclonic storm FANI that hit the Odisha coast on May 3. The ASI had been instructed to install the two statues on June 16 and take up repair work of other parts of the temple during the annual Rath Jatra starting from July 4.

Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator P K Mohapatra had earlier informed that the ASI team will inspect the sanctum sanctorum of the main temple on July 5 and 6 and carry out repair works in the shrine within the 11 days during Rath Yatra between July 4 and July 15.
