ASBM To Be University, Odisha Cabinet Also Nods Proposal To Amend Secretariat DEO Cadre Rules

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Cabinet today approved the important proposal for enactment of a separate legislation for establishment of Asian School of Business Management (ASBM) University by upgrading the ASBM management here in the State.

This was informed by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi after the important State Cabinet meeting at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. 16 important proposals got seal of approval by the State Cabinet today.

Briefing media, the Chief Secretary said, “The conferment of university status to ASBM will broaden the horizon of education in Odisha and give an impetus to multi-disciplinary teaching and research. This will also help in introducing new generation industry oriented and employment linked courses.”

He also informed media that the Cabinet also gave in principle approval of the “Odisha Secretariat Data Entry Operators (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Amendment Rules, 2019”.

Keeping in view to provide further promotional avenues, the restructure of the cadre will create another two new promotional posts namely Assistant Data Processing Officer and Data Processing Officer in lieu of abolition of 32 vacant posts of Senior Data Entry Operator of different departments of Secretariat.

The State Cabinet also nodded implementation mechanism for second component of KALIA scheme i.e. livelihood support for landless agricultural households.

As per a press note, “It has been decided to enhance the target of the number of beneficiaries to be covered under the Landless Agricultural Households category to 5 lakhs during this year itself. Each beneficiary shall be paid Rs 5,000 in the first tranche. The balance shall be paid to the beneficiary in two tranches later.”

Prominent among the other proposals, the State Cabinet also approved the proposal for Odisha Children’s and Women’s Welfare Services (Amendment) Rules, 2018, NIDAAN SAHAYA and Free Healthcare Service, SWASTHYA SAHAY and permission to Health & FW Department to sub-lease its allotted land in favour of private partners on PPP mode for establishment of Affordable Health Care Projects at different locations of the State subject to payment of concessional rate of premium as per prevailing IPR, 2015.
