Bhubaneswar: Keeping in mind pollution of water bodies caused by immersion of idols, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has created temporary artificial ponds in Daya and Kuakhai rivers for immersion of Durga idols.
Durga idols of Rasulgarh, Bomikhal, Sahidnagar, Jharpada, Laxmisagar, Nayapalli, VaniVihar, Kharvela Nagar etc. pandals will be immersed in artificial ponds created in river Kuakhai, BMC sources said.
Similarly, Durga idols of Station Bazaar, Dhauli, Rajmahal and Kalpana Square etc.pandals will be immersed in temporary artificial ponds created by the municipal body in river Daya, the sources added.
