Malkangiri: Security personnel have seized detonators, tabs, solar panels, Maoist literature, medicines, articles of daily use, etc during search operations in Goegurha-Uttamgurha area under Mudulipada police limits in Malkangiri district following an exchange of fire with Maoists on Wednesday, informed a senior police official here today.
"On 15th morning we got inputs about 20-25 members of the banned CPI (Maoist) organisation terrorizing people in Goegurha-Uttamgurha area under Mudulipada police limits. Following that a combing operation was launched in the area by Malkangiri SP, SDPO with a team of DVF commandos supported by SOG and BSF," said DIG (South Western Range) Shafeen Ahmed addressing a presser here today.
Ahmed informed that while the team was conducting combing and search operation in the area, the Red rebels suddenly opened fire to which the security personnel responded, however, the CPI (Maoist) armed cadres managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
"We will further continue this endeavour along with the focus on the developmental initiatives in this area. A case has been registered at the Mudulipada police station in this regard. During the search operation we have seized several articles used by them and some incriminating materials like bullets of AK-47, detonators, electric wires, etc which they could have used for IED blast against us," the DIG revealed.
The DIG pointed out that the seizure of the articles points to CPI (Maoist) trying to wage war against the State by attacking security forces and added that combing and search operations have been intensified in the area.
