Sundargarh: While Jharsuguda (Congress) MLA Naba Kishore Das has recently made it loud and clear that he is not going to attend AICC president Rahul Gandhi’s Odisha meeting on January 25 as he has made up his mind to join ruling BJD, Sundargarh’s two-time (Congress) MLA Jogesh Singh has also decided to skip Rahul’s meeting at Bhubaneswar.

Talking to media, the Sundargarh Sadar MLA defended, “Rahul Gandhi’s programme was finalized recently while I had fixed my lots of rural programmes here in my constituency much before. As it is election year, it is the duty of a politician to join people’s programmes. Hence, I can’t join Rahul Gandhi’s programme.”

“The people who have voted me to victory are my first high command, then the party high command. I can’t leave my first high command,” the Congress MLA argued.

He further argued, “As I’ve fixed my local programmes with the public, I haven’t breached any party discipline.”

“As a person, Naveen Patnaik is very good. When one rules for 18 years is obviously an astute politician. As he has the ability, he has been ruling consecutively for 18 years. Certainly we’ll agree that the people prefer Naveen Patnaik or he wouldn’t have won and returned to power continuously,” the two-time Congress MLA remarked.
