Kandhamal: In yet another government failure scene, a woman was forced to deliver her baby by the roadside here on Saturday.

The woman has been identified as Pankani Kanhar of Nedipadar village. Reportedly, the woman suffered labour pain at around 11 am on Saturday following which her husband contacted 108 ambulance help but in vain.

The family alleged that the ambulance driver said that there is no ambulance available in the hospital at that time.

The couple were forced to walk through the forest road to reach the hospital. Meanwhile, Pankani could not bear it further delivering her baby on the way.

After getting information, Kandhamal Collector sent a 108 ambulance by the evening to the spot and admitted both mother and the baby girl at the Guchhapada Hospital.

It is sad that at one hand the Government of India is showing much effort over Janani Surakhya Yojan and Women Empowerment and at the other hand time and again deliveries on the road continues to pour in.
