Angul: Family members of a man have alleged that he has been killed by cops during interrogation at Kaniha police station in Angul district on Friday. The deceased have been identified as Deepak Barik of Badagunduri village.

Reportedly, Deepak's wife Dolly had lodged a domestic violence complaint against him following which he was called to the said police station on Friday for interrogation.

As per his family members, Deepak was thrashed by an SI at the police station, as a result of which, his nose started bleeding and he fell unconscious on the spot.

Immediately police rushed him to Kaniha Community Health Center (CHC) and as his condition worsened shifted him to Angul district headquarters hospital (DHH), where doctor declared him brought dead.

Meanwhile, family members have demanded an immediate probe on the incident and stringent action against the concerned cop. However, Palahara SDPO Jashobanta Samal, while denying the allegations, termed that Deepak died of food poisoning.
