Adequate Steps Taken For Cyclone FANI, Leave Of All Doctors & Staff Cancelled: Odisha Health Minister

Bhubaneswar: As the Odisha Government has already geared up and fully prepared to deal with both the pre and post cyclonic conditions across the State, Health Department has also taken elaborate measures to tackle the very severe cyclonic storm FANI looming large.   

Briefing media today, Odisha Health Minister Pratap Jena said, “Directive has been issued by our Health Department to open control rooms at every District Headquarters and Block Headquarters.”

He informed, “Doctors from non-affected areas will be mobilized to the affected areas. Steps have been taken to ensure availability of all kinds of medicine, especially anti-snake bite venom, combating malaria, dengue, diarrhea, etc. Asha Karmis have also been kept on alert so that they could be mobilized as per the need.”

He further informed, “Also decision has been taken for providing power back up in all the hospitals by means of installing power generators. Measures have been taken to shift the pregnant women from the villages to the Maa Gruhas and then local hospitals.”

The Minister added, “Steps are being taken to disinfect the places and ensure safe drinking water. Steps will also be taken for health camps after identifying various places for door service to the patients as well as treatment at the health camps. We’ll ensure that our vaccines are well protected and stored in the cold freezers wherever we have the storages even after power gets cut off. Power back ups will be used there.”

“Leave and holidays of all the doctors and employees of Odisha Health Department have been cancelled,” asserted the Health Minister.
