Bhubaneswar: As 33% reservation for women has been gaining momentum and seems to be a major plank keeping in view the general elections-2019, All India Congress Committee (AICC) has issued directive to its Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) here in Odisha to send more and more proposals of woman candidates for party tickets.

This was revealed today by Odisha PCC president Niranjan Patnaik. Talking to media, he informed, “Our decision is still inconclusive. Discussion has been made on 15 MP seats. One more zone is yet to be decided.”

He stated, “Direction has been issued by the party high command to propose for more and more woman candidates. There is nothing with percentage. We have proposed for the woman candidates but advice has been given to us for more women proposals to be sent to AICC.”

“Final decision on the seats will be on March 16. We have sufficient woman leaders. Hence, decision is underway,” he informed further. He added, “Only MP seats have been earmarked. Nothing has been final on the assembly seats.”
