Ahead of Phase-IV Polls, 3 Engineering Students Held With 32 kg Ganja In Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: A day before phase-IV polls in Odisha, three engineering students were arrested by a team of Central Excise Intelligence officials on the charges of peddling ganja (dry cannabis) here today morning.

The arrested persons have been identified as Asish Kumar Digal, Manomalia Digal and Ranjan Digal. All three are natives of Kandhamal, said excise officials.

The three were arrested after a raid at Link Road in Cuttack and 32 kg ganja worth Rs 3.5 lakh was seized. A car was also seized form their possession. Reportedly, all the accused are students of a private engineering college in Bhubaneswar.

Excise officials confirmed that the youths were on their way to Bhadrak and Balasore, where Phase-IV polling will take place tomorrow (April 29).

The seized articles have been duly sealed on the spot and sent for chemical examination, the officials added.
