Bhubaneswar: Despite BJP’s poster boy-cum-Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s repeated salvos fired at Naveen Patnaik-led Government’s mega healthcare scheme ‘Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana’ for allegedly eclipsing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pet healthcare scheme ‘Ayushman Bharat’, ruling BJD today came down heavily on Dharmendra after Odisha Health Department got awarded by the same BJP-led Centre.

Notably, Odisha has secured 2nd rank in the country for maximum improvement in OPD services.

Odisha’s ruling BJD spokesperson Debashis Samantray reacted, “Odisha has secured 2nd position in the country for health sector services and going to be awarded by the Centre. Over one crore people have already reaped the benefit from our Chief Minister’s Biju Swasthya Kalyan Scheme.”

“When our scheme is successful and being implemented successfully as the people are gaining the benefits, the Union Minister (Dharmendra Pradhan) has realized well that their scheme (Ayushman Bharat) that has been rejected by our State Government couldn’t be implementated within the ensuing general elections.”

“Thus, he is issuing such statements against Biju Swashtya Kalyan Yojana,” remarked the BJD spokesperson.

On the contrary, Odisha BJP spokesperson Golak Mohapatra commented, “The State Government here knows the tact how to bag prize by submitting false data and clinching false certificate from the Centre."

However, senior journmalist Rabi Das viewed, “When more people are covered (under Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana) than the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat and there is no complaint from the people, there is nothing wrong.”

He opined, “Out patients in Odisha have increased. Earlier the people were avoiding hospitals. Now there are visiting. As there is free treatment facility, more and more people are going to the State-run hospitals.”

“If the data provided by Odisha Government to the Centre is claimed to be false and incorrect, how Bhubaneswar became No 1 smart city? If so, then the system of the Central Government is also faulty. As the services are meeting the parameters set by the Centre, Odisha is being awarded,” the senior journalist argued.

Need to mentioned that, Odisha has been conferred an award for securing second rank for maximum improvement in Out-Patients Department (OPD) Services in Public Health Facilities during 2016-17 to 2017-18 in the 5th National Summit on Good, Replicable Practices and Innovations in public health care systems in India.
