Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police Havildar-Constable-Sepoy Association called off their agitation today after a discussion with Director General of Police RP Sharma at Bhubaneswar Camp Office.

Association President Santosh Satpathy said, “The DGP has assured to fulfill our four-point demands and thus we have called off the protest. We have full faith on Government. If they have promised something then they will definitely work on it. Our demands have been fulfilled earlier as well. Thus we have withdrawn from the agitation.”

When asked what will be the Association’s next step if the State Government delays the process, Satpathy said, “Our 60,000 officers are all ready to launch a protest at any time.”

Reportedly, the confederation has been pressing since long for fulfillment of their demands including correction of an anomaly in the 7th grade pay, abolition of contractual appointments, increase in insurance cover and hike in various allowances like special diet allowance, mobility allowance and washing allowance.

Havildars, sepoys and constables in Odisha wore black badges today morning during duty hours as a protest call and were all set to launch cease work from tomorrow morning (February 8). The officers have removed their black badges and the protest has been called off, said sources.
