Bhubaneswar: In a bid to expedite various drinking water projects under the BASUDHA (Buxi Jagabandhu Assured Water Supply to Habitations) Scheme underway in the State, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today sanctioned an additional amount of Rs 1,000 crore for those projects, a press note issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said.
The CMO press note added, “Rs 1000 crore budgetary allocation has been made for 2018-19. Hence, the Chief Minister has sanctioned the additional Rs 1000 crore to expedite the drinking water supply projects across the State.”
It also added that Rs 1000 crore budgetary allocation has also been made for 2019-20.
Notably, BASUDHA scheme was launched on November 22, 2018 and the objective of the scheme is to provide adequate safe water to both the rural and urban people for drinking and domestic purposes on a sustainable basis.
