Angul: The idea that farming is a good business has been proved by Ollywood actor Ashok Das whose dairy farm in Angul produces around 300 litres of milk daily that is sold in a matter of minutes.

A crowd of people holding various containers and plastic water bottles throng the dairy farm of Ashok daily morning and evening to buy milk sold at a cost of Rs 45 per litre. The milk of the farm is popular because consumers find it unadulterated.

Ashok, who had stepped into Ollywood in 1999 and has acted in many Odia movies and tele-serials, was influenced by his father Gopinath Das's love for dairy farming.

Gopinath, a government engineer, had kept four cows in their house. Ashok used to tend these cows in his free time and gradually set up a farm which now holds over 50 cows and employs around 10 to 12 people. This has been done without any government support and the grass to feed the cows is also grown on the farm.

Ashok said that one can earn good profit through dairy farming by giving their 100 per cent effort. He advised the educated job-hunting youth to opt for farming as it provides good returns along with peace of mind.
