Accused Dupes Policemen In Odisha’s Mayurbhanj, Absconds With Their Bike

Mayurbhanj: In an interesting twist of events, an accused duped the Police officers who apprehended him and absconded using Police Station’s motorcycle.

The events unfolded at Suliapada in Mayurbhanj district on October 10. As per Police reports, Suliapada IIC received telephonic information that an accident had occurred at Kujidihi village. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) S.N.Barik and Havildar D K Dash left for the accident site on Police Station’s bike bearing Registration number OD05AG 3843.

On arriving, they first took the injured lady to District Headquarter Hospital (DHH) Baripada and apprehended the accused rider with his scooter. The ASI and the Havildar took the accused rider and conducted his medical treatment at Community Health Centre Kostha but after his medical treatment, the accused absconded from there using the Police station’s motorcycle.

However, the accused left behind his scooter and his PAN Card. He was identified as Sanjeev Jena, son of Gopal Jena of Manoharpur under Datun Police limits in West Medinipur district in West Bengal.

Two cases of causing accident and theft have been registered against Sanjeev at Suliapada Police station.

Additionally, ASI Barik and Havildar Dash were suspended pending inquiry, informed Police officials.

On Friday, the motorcycle was revived from a wooded area under Udala Police limits but the accused is still absconding and the search for him is underway.
