Bhubaneswar: Journalist Abhijit Iyer Mitra, who had been arrested for his anti-Odisha remarks and recently admitted to Capital Hospital due to deteriorating health condition, he walked out of the hospital today after fulfilling his bail conditions.

The Orissa High Court had accepted the bail plea of Abhijit yesterday after the State Home Department withdrew all the cases registered against him. However, as per procedure, he had to fulfil the conditions laid down by the trial courts.

As two separate cases were registered against Abhijit at Konark Police Station in Puri district and Saheed Nagar Police Station under the Bhubaneswar Commissionerate of Police, the certified copies of his bail granted by the Orissa High Court were submitted at the court of SDJM Bhubaneswar and JMFC Konark.

The release orders were then transferred to jail and subsequently to the hospital from where he will be leaving to visit his mother, said Abhijit's lawyer Nikhil Mehra.

Mehra further informed that, as the withdrawal application of the cases have not reached the courts, Abhijit have to depose before the trial courts when required. Which will not be required once the withdrawal procedure completes, he added.
