AAI Technical Team To Probe Bhubaneswar Airport Mishap

Bhubaneswar: A high-level technical team from the Airport Authority of India (AAI) will soon visit to find out the reason behind the caving-in of the under-construction building for linking Terminal 1 of Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) with Terminal 2.

"A technical committee will immediately visit. It will assess the problem," informed BPIA Director V V Rao speaking to newsmen here today.

The Director ruled out any delay in execution of the ongoing project because of the mishap.

"On the basis of the assessment of the technical committee work will proceed. I don't think much delay will take place," Rao said.

Giving details of the project cost, the BPIA Director revealed that the project is of Rs 56 crore and out of that work worth Rs 3 crore has been completed so far.

He added that the slab which has collapsed yesterday night was worth only Rs 20 lakh.
