Bhubaneswar: When Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21-day lockdown it was met with appreciation. Implementing social distancing norms public places were already shut; people were forced to confinement of their homes with the scare of deadly COVID-19 looming large.
Midway through the lockdown, we have come to realise the importance of a simple life with three basic essentials- Roti, Kapda and Makaan; roughly translating to food, clothes and a sustainable roof.
Today, coronavirus has become a serious cause of global fear and concern and we as humans have retreated to the basics. Staying at home, spending time with family, eating simple home-cooked food- who would have imagined that these basic things would be able to provide such immense joy in addition to keeping us safe.
We have not gone for an outing, shopped, dined, gone for movies, had guests and several other things that we thought were essential for the social beings that we are. And yet here we are- alive, happy and most importantly healthy.
Agreed the situation is not a good one but rather very grim. But here we are in this crisis which is teaching us the basic life lessons that maybe we let go in the run for modern comfortable life. The lessons that we have now come to realize that they were not only simple to follow but also result in us being happier beings.
