Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his deep grief at the death of veteran Sarvodaya leader Sumitra Choudhry. The exemplary leader passed away at the age of 96 at her Cuttack residence on Sunday.
CM Naveen described her as a true Gandhian who had dedicated her entire life to spreading Gandhian values and upliftment of women. He added that on her death Odisha lost a great woman and dedicated social worker. The Chief Minister conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Sumitra Chowdhary was the daughter-in-law of veteran freedom fighter Rama Devi. She was a true follower of Mahatma Gandhi and had actively participated in the Sarvodaya movement initiated by Gandhi for rural development and upliftment of rural India.
