Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation’s Commissioner Samarth Verma informed today that the civic body will start distributing Chief Minister’s Special Relief Package post Cyclone FANI to slum dwellers without ration cards within the next two days.

“While disbursement of relief is under full swing, there are a total of 1.04 lakh ration card holders in Bhubaneswar. 85,000 have already been covered. We are currently surveying the number of people without ration cards. As soon as the list is ready, we will start distributing relief to them by tomorrow or the day after,” he said.

While the relief package had been announced only for people with ration cards under the National Food Security Act or State Food Security Scheme, the Special Relief Commissioner directed on Saturday, "The Government is pleased to extend the Gratuitous Relief to the families in slums, who do not possess card under NFSA/ SFSS."

As per the package, people can get Rs 2,000 monetary assistance, Rs 500 for polythene and 50 Kg rice in the aftermath of Cyclone FANI.
