800 Cattle Rescued In Two Separate Incidents Of Smuggling In Odisha

Dhenkanal/Balasore: About 800 cattle were rescued from two separate  cattle smuggling rackets, one each in Dhenkanal and Balasore on Saturday.

In Dhenkanal, acting on a tip-off, a special squad six trucks on suspicion of cattle smuggling near Nihalaprasad area. Around 600 cattle is said to be rescued here.

Meanwhile, in Balasore, a team of Go Rakhshak activists intercepted two containers with about 200 cattle on NH 16 near Seragad toll gate, reports confirm. The activists also allege that another three more cattle-laden containers managed to escape. The driver and helper were apprehended alleging illegal cattle smuggling.

The team of Go Rakhshak activists assert that they had received information of a huge cache of cattle being transported to neighbouring West Bengal. They staged a protest accusing the administration of inaction.
