Bhubaneswar: The Drugs Task Force of Commissionerate Police has detected 39 narcotics cases with the arrest of 80 offenders in the last four months ending on December 31, 2019, informed Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi on Saturday.
Sarangi asserted that 914.59 gm brown sugar, 227.55 Kg Ganja, Rs 5,30,840 lakh cash, 27 bikes, two auto-rickshaws, five cars and 60 cell phones have been seized during the drive against drugs which will be further intensified in future.
He further informed that around 30 out of the arrestees are from outside Bhubaneswar. Officers of Commissionerate Police have been deployed to Balasore, Jaleswar, Mayurbhanj and Khurda to identify the grassroots of the drug trade.
“It is a matter of concern that the drug traders are drugs addict. Even if they are arrested, they resume their business after being released. There is a need to take precautionary measures against them,” said Sarangi.
