70 Per Cent Water Supply To Be Restored In Bhubaneswar By Today Evening: Chief Secretary

Bhubaneswar: After the extremely severe damage to public infrastructure in the cyclone hit Puri and Bhubaneswar, the Odisha administration has ensured to restore the water and electricity supply in the two towns on a war-footing.

Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, who has been given the charge to supervise overall relief, restoration and housing, quoted Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik stating presently water is being supplied to 70 per cent people in Puri town.

In Bhubaneswar only 70 per cent of water supply has been restored as there is some repair work underway at the pumping station at Mundali. 70 per cent water supply will be restored in Bhubaneswar city by today evening, after completion of the work, he added.

Additional BMC Commissioner Rajendra Kumar Pattnaik informed that the BMC has mobilised additional water tankers from Berhampur, Ganjam, Dhenkanal and Sambalpur and presently more than 100 tankers are in place for water supply.

Most of the roads have been cleared and piped water supply has been restored. Staffs from BMC, BDA, Revenue and other agencies are working in collaboration for the restoration work, he added.
