Cuttack: As Odisha remembers Utkal Gourab Madhusudan Das on his 171st birth anniversary, also celebrated as Lawyers' Day across the State, seven of his historic poems which have been converted into songs were dedicated to public by the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court on Sunday.

Chief Justice KS Jhaveri dedicated these songs to the public in presence of dignitaries in a function jointly organised by Odisha State Bar Council and Orissa High Court Bar Association Cuttack in the Convention Hall of High Court premises.

The seven patriotic and soulful poems by Madhusudan Das - Aahe Biswa Pati, Tu Para Bolau Utkal Santan, Mata Mata Raba, Jati Itihas, Maa Maa Boli Kete Mun Khojili, Ganga Godavari and Prema Ra Chumban - are available for free download at the official website of Orissa High Court Bar Association - www.highcourtbar.org.

A distinguish member of Orissa High Court Bar Association Advocate Prasanna Kumar Nanda had conceived the idea of this project to give tune to these poems so as to popularise it’s feeling among general public.

The poems reflect Madhu Babu's love for the State and Odias and are rich in meaning with many inspiring difficult Odia words. It was a challenge job to transform poems into a musical album but it was accomplished by noted singer Subhas Dash.

While classical musical instruments have been used to make these songs melodious and soothing, eminent singers like Bishnu Mohan Kabi, Sricharan Mohanty, Dibyajit Sasmal, Siba Ranjani Mohapatra, Pragyan Prasmita Hota and Subhas Dash have lent their voice to it.

The album was prepared in the year 2016. It is a small tribute to the great soul, who dedicated his life and wealth for the welfare of Odisha. Significantly all poems of Madhusudan Das have been compiled into a music album for the first time ever in the music and socio-cultural history of Odisha.
