Bhubaneswar: Shooter Shriyanka Sadangi from Odisha has bagged gold medal at the 50th Grand Prix of Liberation hosted by Czech Republic.
As per media reports, she clinched the gold medal in 10m Air Rifle Mixed event with her Indian mentor Gagan Narang on Wednesday.
Prior to this event, the ace shooter from Odisha had won silver with her mentor Narang in the 50m Mixed rifle event.
She has till date total 20 international medals in her kitty out of which 5 gold, 12 silver and 3 bronze.
Her first ever medal was at the Delhi Open Shooting Championship in 2006 when she claimed a bronze. Later in August 2011, she bagged a gold each in junior and senior categories of the Haryana State Rifle Championship at New Delhi.
She has been winning scores of medals at various national level events as well as international events.
The ace shooter received the 21st Ekalabya Award for the year 2013.
Shriyanka is specialized in 10m air rifle precision shooting.
Born on January 10, 1995, Shriyanka Sadangi (fondly called Sakhi) is daughter of Col Sitanshu Charan Sadangi and Sudha Sadangi. While she is a resident of Modi Para in Sambalpur city of western Odisha, her present address is Delhi Cantonment, Delhi.
Graduated from St Stephen’s College, New Delhi in 2015, Shriyanka pursued her Masters degree at Delhi University.
Being a daughter of an Army officer, Shriyanka was keen on shooting from the very beginning. Her latent talent was discovered by Indian Army in 2006 under its scheme “Mission Olympics: Catch Them Young”.
While Subedar Krishan Singh and Subedar Pratap Patil taught her the basics of shooting, she is at present undergoing training at the Khel Ratna Awardee Gagan Narang’s shooting Academy “Gun for Glory” at Pune under the guidance of Russian coach Lurii Mikhalkin.
