4 Seasoned Dacoits Arrested In Cuttack, One Escapes

Cuttack: Four dacoits wanted in several robbery cases where arrested on late Saturday by the Choudwar Police at Mangalpur-Banipada road.

Based on a tip-off SI PP Beura and his team set up a lookout at Mangalpur-Banipada road to nab the dacoits. While one of them escaped, four were arrested.

The arrested have been identified as Ranjan Jethy (30), Bijaya Nayak (32), Kanhu Charan Behera (24) and Sukanat Swain (53). While Jethy and Nayak hail from Dhenkanal; Behera and Swain belong to Cuttack.

Several incriminating materials were seized from the arrested. One country-made revolver, two live ammunition, one sword, on motorcycle, five mobile phones, three Driver’s License and some cash was found upon them.

The arrested robbers were wanted in several robbery cases in Cuttack, Dhenkanal, and Angul districts. Their modus operandi was to hijack iron rod laden trucks and then make an escape with the loot.
