4 Enforcement Wings Oversee Single-Use Plastic Ban In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has engaged an enforcement wing in each of the three zones of the municipal corporation apart from one central enforcement wing for implementation of the ban on use of single-use plastics, informed a top official of the BMC.

"Three enforcement wings are working in the zones and one central enforcement wing are overseeing enforcement of the ban. Every day raids are being conducted and about 200-300 kg is seized and penalties are being imposed," said Prem Chandra Chaudhary, Commissioner, BMC talking to Ommcom News.

The BMC Commissioner further said that the urban body was also approaching the public for their participatory role in forsaking the use of single-use plastics.

He added that he was optimistic and was hopeful of success.

It may be mentioned here that ban on use of single-use plastics has been in force in Bhubaneswar for the last one year and the ban was extended to all urban areas in the State from October 2 on Gandhi Jayanti this year.
