4 BSF Troopers Killed By Maoists Near Odisha-Chhattisgarh Border

04 April 2019

Bhubaneswar: Four Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were killed and two others were wounded on Thursday in a gun battle with Maoists in Chhattisgarh, the BSF said. One Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) and three constables lost their lives, stated sources.

The troopers were deployed in Pakhanjur, Kanker, area and were performing a routine operation when they came under attack from the Maoists with improvised explosive devices (IEDs), triggering an exchange of fire, a BSF statement said.

"Maoists also suffered casualties," the statement said, adding that the area had been cordoned off. The injured BSF troopers were evacuated to a hospital. The situation is being monitored by DIG P Sundarraj.

It is notable to mention here that Kanker is going to polls in the second phase.
