Kalahandi: Three minor girls sustained severe burn injuries after a haystack caught fire at a thrashing yard in Bijmara village under Mahima panchayat of Kalahandi district on Saturday.

They succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) Bhawanipatna.

Reportedly, twin sisters Rosy Disari and Daisy Disari, daughters of Hemraj Disari of the village, along with Rachna Rout of Jaipatna's Kundiguda village who had visited her maternal uncle's house at Bijmara were playing in the thrashing yard when the haystack caught fire.

The girls falling in an age group of 4-5 years have suffered life-threatening burns across 90 percent of their bodies. After preliminary treatment at Community Health Centre (CHC) Koksara, they were shifted to DHH Bhawanipatna.
