29 From Odisha To Receive President's Police Medal On Republic Day 2020

Bhubaneswar: A total of 29 officers and men have been selected to receive the President's Police Medal on the occasion of Republic Day 2020.

Sixteen police personnel have been selected to receive the Police Medal for Gallantry. Their names along with designation are mentioned as under.

  1. Gagan Bihari Nayak, Sub-Inspector.
  2. Krushnalok Behera, Havildar.
  3. Murali Mohan Dash, Constable.
  4. Maheswar Dhakad, Constable.
  5. Manohar Bhumia, Constable.
  6. Prasad Nayak, Constable.
  7. Bhabani Shankar Patli, Constable.
  8. Arjuna Chandra Kurami, Constable.
  9. Binaya Kumar Mishra, Constable.
  10. Rajesh Kumar Dewan, Constable.
  11. Rajendra Choudhury, Sub-Inspector.
  12. Sukhi Ram Rana, Havildar.
  13. Ganesh Dharua, Commando.
  14. Rabindra Kumar Parmanik, Commando.
  15. Padmanav Ray, Commando.
  16. Madan Mohan Padhan, Commando.

This Medal is awarded for conspicuous gallantry. All police personnel of the country irrespective of rank and length of service are eligible for this award.

The Recipients of this Medal are granted an Allowance per month which is paid to them even after retirement. After the death of the recipient, this Allowance is paid to his widow at the same rate.

The recipients of this Medal are also eligible to travel free by train in the 2nd class AC II tier or in the first class with an attendant.

Two police officers have been selected to receive the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service. Their names along with designation are mentioned as under.

  1. Raosaheb Punjabrao Koche, Addl. D.G. of Police.
  2. Manoranjan Samal, Assistant Sub Inspector of Police.

This Medal is awarded in recognition of a special distinguished record in Police service or in the Central Police or Security Organization. All police personnel in the country with at least 21 years of service are eligible for this award.

Eleven police personnel have been selected to receive the Police Medal for Meritorious Service. Their names along with designation are mentioned as under.

  6. Dibakar Samantsinghar, Sub-Inspector, Vigilance BBSR Division.
  7. Santanu Kumar Dash, ASI of Police, BBSR.
  8. Pranab Kumar Nayak, ASI of Police, Vigilance Directorate, Cuttack.
  9. Chitta Ranjan Ratha, Havildar, Rayagada District.
  10. Narendra Kumar Rout, Constable, Balasore District.
  11. Dawood, Constable, Vigilance Directorate, Cuttack.

This Medal is awarded in recognition of the meritorious record in Police service or in the Central Police or Security Organization. All Police personnel in the country with at least 15 years of service are eligible for this award.

It is worthwhile to mention that the above officers and men will be decorated with medal on the occasion of Independence Day 2020.
