Rourkela: Around 22 devotees were injured after a huge boulder rolled down on them near Jatia Baba Temple atop Jatia Baba hill under Hatibari police limits of Sundargarh district on Friday.
Reportedly, hundreds of devotees had thronged the temple on to offer prayers to Lord Shiva on the occasion of Maha Shivratri. Some youths were clicking selfies near the boulder when it loosened from the ground and rolled down.
Over 22 men, women and children were injured in the incident. On getting information, police along with fire brigade reached the spot and rescued the devotees with the help of locals.
All the injured were first rushed to Hatibari Community Health Centre (CHC) and the critical among them were shifted to Ispat General Hospital (IGH) in Rourkela. Birmitrapur MLA Shankar Oram also reached the hospital and took stock of the situation.
