Bhubaneswar: 20-year-old Aman Chattria brought laurels to Odisha when he set not one but two world records in one go. He made it to Guinness Book of World Records by most kip-ups in one minute (47) and most no-handed kip-ups in one minute (37) in August this year.
While studying BPharma from HiTech College of Bhubaneswar, Aman also chased his passion and performed a challenging task for which he had been practising for close to one and half year.
Originally from Bolangir, he finished his 10th and 12 in Kantabanji. Post that he moved to Bhubaneswar to pursue his graduation.
A 3rd year BPharma student Aman had attempted to break the record back in March but had failed due to some technical issue. Taking his failure in his stride, he worked harder at achieving his dream.
In order to be able to make it to the Guinness World Book of Records, Aman had started formal training 18 months back but has been a trained breakdancer for several years now.
“I broke the Pakistan’s record of 41 kip-ups in one minute and lodged it in India’s name. The record of most no-handed kip-ups in one minute was held by South Korea which has also come to India now,” Aman says proudly.
He adds, “My parents and siblings were initially alarmed but gradually warmed up. They have been my biggest strength. After breaking the world record, I have been felicitated by several organization in Bhubaneswar and my hometown in Bolangir.” He also profusely thanked Satyapira Padhan for being a constant support and a guiding light in his journey.
Now after being able to achieve this feat, Aman has started teaching others this sport as well, and is now guiding three prodigies.
