Malkangiri: In a barbaric act, armed red rebels allegedly killed a villager and abducted two others in Mathili area suspecting them to be police informers. The deceased has been identified as Guja Kobasi of Kukurakunda village under Mathili police limits.

Guja along with Masa Sodi and Unga Kalamali had gone missing from Friday evening, said locals. While Masa and Unga were brutally thrashed by Maoists and released with a warning, Guja was found dead with his throat slit on Sunday afternoon.

Reportedly, the Maoists remain in hiding during the mornings when tight patrolling by security personnel is underway. Later in the evening, the ultras resort to their anti-social activities.

Further probe into the matter is currently underway, said police officials.
