26 April 2019

Deogarh: Presiding officer Himanshu Behera and sector officer B Gopalkrushna Saraf were suspended for dereliction of duty by Deogarh Collector today.

Reports stated that the action was taken after an inquiry report on directions from Election Commission. Notably, voting was stopped at Siaria booth no 183 after mispairing of EVM and VVPAT machines during third phase polls.

The matter came to the fore after voters complained about their votes being cast to the wrong candidates. Following this, Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Surendra Kumar had ordered an inquiry into the allegations.
