Malkangiri: Nearly a month after the death of six children reportedly due to Bronchopneumonia at MV-79 Tamanapalli in Malkangiri, 19 more children at Katanpali were found to be suffering from the disease.

The children were first brought to MV-79 Community Health Centre (CHC) in two ambulances. However, as their condition is critical and the required medicines are not readily available, they were referred to Kalimela Hospital. All the children are within the age group of one to three.

It is worthwhile to mention that medical team have been deployed in MV-79 following reports of children dying due to an unknown disease.

After conducting health check-up in the village, it was found that most of the children are suffering from Bronchopneumonia. Early diagnosis could have saved the lives of the six children but due to lack of awareness they were hospitalised in the last stage.
