Bhubaneswar: There has been a growth of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since 2010 with a total of 19,584 shakhas added over the last 9 years, said senior RSS leader Manmohan Vaidya at a presser in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
While attending the inaugural of Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal (ABKM) Baithak of RSS here, Vaidya said the shakha is a daily gathering of swayamsevaks at a predefined meeting place or ground for one hour. Now there are around 57,411 shakhas in the country. There has been a growth of 1,585 shakhas in comparison to October 2018.
Where shakas are not possible, people gather for a weekly programme called 'Milan'. Presently, there are 18,923 milans in the country which has seen a growth of 1,879 since last year, he added.
Vaidya further informed that the RSS karyakartas or functionaries had in 2009 taken the decision to expand the organisation across India and a gradual growth is being felt since 2010.
