188 Offenders Booked During Special Drive By Commissionerate Police

Bhubaneswar: In total 188 offenders including drunken drivers have been booked during a night blocking held in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack yesterday as a preventive measure during the ensuing Durga Puja, informed a press release issued by the Commissionerate Police.

The release stated that, on the instruction of Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty, all the police stations of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack conducted a special drive from October 9 to 12 for execution of non-bailable warrants and for prosecution of habitual offenders under preventive provisions of law.

Accordingly, evening and night blockings were held within the Commissionerate Police area and during such night blockings yesterday at Khandagiri, Dhauli, Trishulia police station areas 188 offenders were booked.

During the special drive from October 9 to 12, 44 non-bailable warrants have been executed and 15 habitual offenders or criminals have been booked under section 110 of CrPC.

In total 37 excise cases were detected and the accused persons were forwarded to the court. Besides, a fine of Rs 5,10,150 have been realised from motor vehicle offenders. Overall, starting from September 23 to October 12 268 non-bailable warrants have been executed and 101 habitual offenders or criminals have been booked under section 110 of CrPC.

After monitoring the progress of the drive on a daily basis, Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty appreciated the result and directed all IICs, Zonal ACPs and DCPs of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to continue the same till the Puja is over.
