Bhubaneswar: A male Nilgiri langur aged 17 years, who was brought from Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Chennai in 2017, died at Nandankanan Zoo here on Friday. The primate was suffering from diarrhoea and fever, informed officials.

The langur died at about 6.30 am in the morning. He had been immediately shifted to Isolation ward for treatment after he was taken ill. The treatment was being carried out in consultation with Centre for Wildlife Health.

"As found from its activities, it seems to be due to nerve disorder but the exact cause of death shall be ascertained after Post Mortem," stated a press release.

It is notable to mention here that an orangutan named Bini also died in the zoo on Thursday suffering from an infection.
