Bhubaneswar: As many as 141 drunk drivers were arrested by the police across Odisha on Sunday (September 15) night. The most among them were from Ganjam (26), 20 from Jajpur and 18 from Sambalpur.
The arrests were part of an enforcement drive initiated by Odisha police since September 9. During the ongoing special drive the police have intercepted total 426 persons who were driving under the influence of alcohol.
The traffic violators have been booked under Section 185/202 of the Motor Vehicle Act.
Such a drive has been treated as an exemplary step to curb drunken driving on the Highways. Police officers have been advised to ensure that there is no congestion or harassament, a press note issued by the State police read.
