11 Odia Migrant Labourers Rescued From Sri Lanka

Bhubaneswar: Eleven Odia migrant labourers were rescued from Sri Lanka today with timely intervention by the State Government.

In a photo posted by BJD MP Dr Sasmit Patra, he wrote, “Due to intervention of Hon'ble CM Shri Naveen Patnaik & Odisha Govt, 11 Odias have been rescued from Sri Lanka where they were held by their contractor. I was following up with Ministry and glad that all of them are back, safe and sound in Odisha today.”

The men were apparently held by their contractors and were rescued due to intervention by Naveen Patnaik led government in collaboration with the Foreign Ministry.

The details of the labourers and how they got stuck in the island country are yet to be ascertained.
