Keonjhar: In yet another public welfare initiative of Keonjhar Police, over 100 police volunteers will be ready 24x7 to receive calls for blood donations from in and around the district.

Titled 'Akshay-Rakt...Khoon ka Rishta', the initiative will provide permanent and perennial (24x7) source of blood for needy patients in emergency.

Talking to OMMCOM NEWS, Keonjhar SP Jai Narayan Pankaj said, "We have over 100 police volunteers of different blood group to donate blood. We are not doing any camp as it only lasts for a day. Our initiative is need based as if any patient is not able to arrange blood in case of emergency, they can contact us."

He informed that two phone numbers, 9437140790 and 9438341988, have been displayed at hospitals and various other places in the district and also they are being shared on social and mass media.

"In India there is shortage of supply in order to meet demand of blood donation. It is our attempt to meet the requirement through our contribution. Secondly, it will help in building police-public relationship in State," said Pankaj.
