‘Wrong Injection’ Claims Life Of 9-Yr-Old; Clinic Ransacked

Niali: Tension sparked in Niali area of Cuttack district today following the death of a nine-year-old girl soon after being allegedly administered a ‘wrong injection’ at a private clinic.

As per reports, alleging that ‘wrong injection’ was administered to the child leading to her death; the deceased’s mother and other family members ransacked a private clinic at Niali bazaar causing damage to property.

On reaching the spot, Police have detained the physician Dr Radhanath Panda and pharmacist Saroj Singh of the aforementioned clinic while the matter is under investigation.

Reports said that Rita Nayak of Garada village under Niali police limits had brought her nine-year-old daughter Sima Nayak to the private clinic for treatment as she was ill.

Dr Panda had allegedly advised pharmacist Singh to administer an injection to the sick child. Following administration of the injection, as the child developed cramps, Rita informed the doctor and was assured by the latter that everything will be alright. Later family members took the child to the local Community Health Centre where she was declared dead by the attending doctor, reports added.

Reports further said that Rita Nayak with the dead child in her lap staged a dharna in front of Dr Panda’s clinic while her other family members allegedly ransacked the clinic.
