Cuttack: Tension prevailed on the premises of Ravenshaw University after six students were asked to vacate the hostel over a ragging complaint. According to sources, students of Plus III laid siege to the varsity Registrar's office demanding withdrawal of the charges.

On Tuesday, a Plus III 1st Year student of Ravenshaw University lodged a complaint with the VC alleging that seniors in the hostel assaulted him.

The incident reportedly occurred when the junior student in question was celebrating his birthday at the hostel. The celebration stopped abruptly after seniors interfered and allegedly roughed up the junior student.

The student and his mother met the VC and reported the matter on Tuesday, sources said. After reviewing the complaint, the VC setup a committee which probed into the matter. The committee found the involvement of some students and ordered six students to vacate the hostel.
