‘PEETHA’ Camps At All Odisha GPs Between 15-20 Of Each Month From Dec’18 To March’19

Bhubaneswar: A day after Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced his Government’s ambitious ‘PEETHA’ (People’s Empowerment - Enabling Transparency and Accountability of Odisha Initiatives), a high level review was held today chaired by the Chief Secretary as the PEETHA camp will be organized at each Gram Panchayat across the State from December 15 to 20, January 15 to 20, February 15 to 20 and March 15 to 20.

Briefing media soon after the high level review meeting, Odisha Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi said, “PEETHA programme is mainly to focus on creating mass awareness and delivering services at the micro level (Panchayat level). It has been aimed to see that all the services delivered by the State Government are made in an organized manner in the next three months. Yesterday the Chief Minister has announced it.”

“Today we were working out in details with the respective departments when to hold what programme and what benefits to be distributed to the beneficiaries. The PEETHA camp will be held from December 15 to 20, January 15 to 20, February 15 to 20 and March 15 to 20.”

Odisha Panchayati Raj Secretary Deoranjan Singh informed, “The (PEETHA) camp will be held at every Gram Panchayat headquarters from 15 to 20 to distribute benefits like LED bulb, Old Age pension, Artist pension, Mission Shakti etc to the beneficiaries there. Also awareness will be created among the people on the various schemes and programmes of the State Government being implemented.”

“This camp will be organized from December 15 to 20, January 15 to 20, February 15 to 20 and March 15 to 20,” he added.

He further informed, “During the camp, cultural troupes will perform there. Besides, leaflets, posters and banners will be distributed. Film will also be shown to the people installing TV sets there. Also people’s grievances will be heard there and redressed. This camp is being organized by the Panchayati Raj Department and the nodal departments.”

“The Collectors will coordinate at the district level while the BDOs will coordinate at the Block level and the Gram Panchayat officials will coordinate at the Panchayat level. Both the existing beneficiaries and new beneficiaries will be benefitted at the camp,” stated the Panchayati Raj Secretary.

Being a part and parcel of the 3Ts model already adopted by the incumbent Odisha Government and also aiming at creating mass awareness on the various schemes of the Government as well as improving transparency in the distribution of individual and social benefits, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik yesterday announced ‘PEETHA’: People’s Empowerment - Enabling Transparency and Accountability of Odisha Initiatives.

The Chief Minister has informed yesterday that PEETHA is a sub-scheme of Ama Gaon Ama Bikas. Every month starting from December, camps will be organised at GP level from 15th - 20th each month. In these camps along with distribution of benefits of AMA LED, Mission Shakti Benefits, Social Security Assistance like Madhu Babu Pension Yojana and Artist Pension, Benefits to Nirman Shramika and any other individual benefit as per local requirement will be taken up.

He has also informed that awareness generation about the important initiatives of the Government on various themes will also be organised. Block Level Observers will monitor the scheme and Voluntary Social workers will assist in its implementation.

Also every month the Best Panchayat in each Block will be awarded with Rs 5 lakh for organising PEETHA. Upon completion of camps, the best Panchayats in each district will be awarded at the district level. Similarly at the State Level Panchayats, Blocks and best Districts will be felicitated and awarded with special funds, as per the Chief Minister’s announcement.
